Welcome to the Studio!
I want to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning students to my private studio. I am excited to begin working with you as soon as possible! My main mission as a teacher is to inspire creativity in music by building on a strong fundamental base that each student can grow from. I have been immersed in music essentially my whole life, and I love sharing my passion and musical discoveries with motivated minds.
Lesson Times and Locations
For my HEB district students, lessons are 25 minutes (or half the class period) and will occur either during the student's band class period, or before or after school. Lessons will be scheduled on weekdays in most cases. With a couple exceptions, most lessons will be held at the student's school in the band hall.
Lesson Expectations
I expect my students to come to each lessons prepared with the practice material that I have assigned in the previous week. To meet this standard, students are expected to practice their instruments on their own time! Private lessons are much more enriching and effective if the student takes adequate time to practice BEFORE the lesson, rather than letting the lesson act as a glorified practice session. We will go over effective practice strategies in our lessons.
Payment
Payment for the month's lessons is due the first lesson of each month. The HEB lesson fee is $18 per lesson. I will send an invoice with the lessons that month listed accordingly before the first lesson of the month. If late payments become common, a late fee may be enacted.
- Accepted payment methods: Check, Cash, PayPal (paypal.me/aduttonmusic), and Venmo (aduttonmusic@gmail.com)
- You may pay via PayPal straight from the invoice, there is a 2% fee to help offset the PayPal that I am charged (however if you pay via PayPal and select 'friends and family' there is no fee for either of us)
Make-up Lessons
If you need to reschedule a lesson for any reason (including school trips and events), you must let me know about the reschedule at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson via email, phone or through the Student Portal website. Barring emergencies, lessons that aren't rescheduled at least 24 hours before cannot be refunded. If your child is home sick on his/her lesson day, please let me know. Make-up lessons can be scheduled by appointment.
If you wish to discontinue lessons, please give me at least two weeks notice so I can potentially schedule another student in your time slot.
